Method
- Combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
- Add warm water and oil; mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Gently fold in the blueberries.
- Let rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and divide into 8 pieces.
- Shape each piece into a bagel.
- Cover and let rest for 10-15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Boil water with honey or malt syrup.
- Boil bagels for 1 minute per side.
- Place bagels on a baking sheet.
- Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning (optional).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, brush the bagels with an egg wash before baking.
