Ingredients
  

Meat and Potatoes
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 cups diced potatoes (Yukon gold or Russet)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup whole milk or half-and-half
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • for garnish Parsley or chives

Method
 

  1. Brown ground beef in a large pot, drain, and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in the same pot, sauté onion, then add garlic.
  3. Sprinkle flour, stir for 1–2 minutes, then gradually whisk in broth.
  4. Add potatoes and beef, simmer 15–20 mins until tender.
  5. Stir in milk and cheese, season, and serve hot with garnish.

Notes

For a creamier texture, use half-and-half instead of milk.
