Ingredients
  

Protein
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
Pasta
  • 8 ounces pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or your favorite type)
Sauce Base
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
Cheese and Seasonings
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper
Garnish
  • for garnish fresh basil or parsley, chopped

Method
 

  1. Cook pasta in boiling salted water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté shrimp in olive oil with salt and pepper until pink, then remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté garlic, then add broth and cream, simmering briefly.
  4. Whisk in Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning, season with salt and pepper.
  5. Add cooked pasta and shrimp to the sauce, tossing to coat. Adjust consistency with reserved pasta water if needed.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil or parsley.

Notes

For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
