Slow Cooker Beef and Noodles

Ingredients
  

Meat
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat or chuck roast, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 oz brown gravy mix
  • 1 oz au jus mix
  • 1 cup water
Noodles
  • 12 oz wide egg noodles
Optional Searing
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for searing
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch for thickening
Alternative Seasonings
  • 4 teaspoons beef bouillon concentrate
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Method
 

  1. Pat beef dry; optionally, sear in hot oil for 2-3 minutes per side.
  2. Place beef in slow cooker, sprinkle gravy and au jus mixes, add water around edges.
  3. Cook on low for 6-8 hours until meat shreds easily; remove and shred beef, return to liquid.
  4. Cook noodles separately, drain, then serve beef over noodles.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, stir in cornstarch mixture during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
