Ingredients
  

Canned Goods
  • 56 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • to taste Salt and pepper to taste
Garnish
  • as needed Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Method
 

  1. Combine crushed tomatoes, chopped onion, minced garlic, and olive oil in a slow cooker.
  2. Add dried basil, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper; stir to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  4. Adjust seasoning if needed, then serve over pasta with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

This sauce can be prepared ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
