Ingredients

Meat
  • 2 pieces ribeye or sirloin steaks (1-inch thick, about 8 ounces each)
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil (or avocado oil)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1 sprig fresh thyme (or rosemary)
  • optional red pepper flakes (to taste)

Method

  1. Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat canola oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  3. Sear steaks for about 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked to desired doneness.
  4. Add butter, crushed garlic, and thyme to the pan; baste the steaks with the melted butter for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Remove steaks from pan, let rest for a few minutes, then serve with garlic butter drizzled on top.

Notes

Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing to retain juices.
